EAT IT // Quick and Easy Lettuce Wraps

Today, I'm excited to share my friend Davinah's recipe for lettuce wraps. She made them for our book club this week, and they were delicious. (Our group gobbled them up in a matter of minutes.)

Davinah owns a photography business (Day By Snap) and she was lovely enough to supply some photos of her cooking process (along with the recipe below.) 

Poor Howie, her puppy. He didn't get any treats while she was cooking. It's a rough life.

Quick and Easy Lettuce Wraps
Feeds 4-6

1 package of Ground Turkey
3 cloves of garlic
3 stalks of green onions
1 can of water chestnuts (chop into chunks)
1 half of an onion (yellow or white)
1/2 c of bean sprouts
1/2 c of shredded carrots
1/4 c of cilantro
Soy Sauce (use to taste! just like salt)
3 tbsp Oyster Sauce (this stuff stinks, but it's super good for flavoring)
Hoisin Sauce 
Sriracha Sauce
Rinse whole lettuce leaves and pat dry, being careful not tear them. Set aside.
In a medium skillet over high heat, brown the ground turkey in 1 tablespoon of oil, stirring often and reducing heat to medium, if necessary. 
Drain, and return to pan. Pour onion in the same pan, stirring frequently. Add the garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and stir. Stir in chopped water chestnuts, cilantro, bean sprouts, carrots: continue cooking for about 6 minutes. If you like your veggies crunchy, only cook for 3 more minutes. 
Serve immediately in lettuce bows and garnish with chopped green onions, hoisin sauce, and sriracha.

  3. I have to say, this recipe is surprisingly simple, fast AND the cleanup is easy (not to mention healthy!) -- this is definitely going to make the Demary Top 10 meals-to-rotate list :)
