I've found myself to be quite sadistic this week.
We've had an infestation of fruit flies in our apartment (which may or may not have been my fault.) Nonetheless, these pesky little things have been driving me crazy! So I went on the hunt for the best possible fruit-fly extermination tactic. Once I found it, I thoroughly enjoyed watching them die (yea, that's not creepy or anything.)
I've had a couple people ask me about my strategy, so I thought I'd share it here. Ultimately, I set traps for the flies in areas of the house where they were congregating. I cut up some fruit and placed it in a bowl. Then, I added some apple cider vinegar until it just covered the fruit. Finally, I covered the bowl with saran wrap, and poked little holes in it with a fork. The flies can usually figure out how to get into the bowl, but then they panic and can't get out again. Muahaha!
The good news? From these traps (and from removing any food products from the open air,) I've all but eradicated our little problem.
Sadistic? Maybe. Successful? Yes.
